August at Twin Hills

Good morning! It seems like the summer just got here and now it’s almost over. School will be starting in just a few short weeks and with that comes the closing of our swimming pool. The pool and snack bar hours will change beginning Tuesday, August 19th. The new hours will be Tuesday through Friday 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Weekend hours will not change. Please remember to mark your calendar so that you are not disappointed if you come out and we are closed.

The 4th of July festivities here at the club were awesome. We had breakfast on the North Porch, a DJ at the pool, a burger/dog buffet in the Grille, a BBQ Dinner in the clubhouse and the best fireworks display we have ever had. A big “THANK YOU” to everyone who came out and spent this holiday with us. It was a blast...literally!

“Thank You” also to our members and their guests for supporting our Twin Ding Golf Tournament held last month. It was a very successful tournament thanks to Doug Riebel and his committee, Paul Hughes and his staff, Kevin O’Brien and his staff and Jerry Broughton and his staff. Congratulations to this year’s winners Kyle Goodwin and his guest, Gary Johnson and second place winners Matt Thompson and his guest, Jacob Tate. It was a full tournament and everyone had a great time. We know this is an inconvenience to our members who do not play in this event and we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Our first Parent/Child (9-hole) golf tournament is scheduled for 3:00pm on Saturday, August 9th with a dinner buffet to follow. If you are interested in playing, please contact the Pro Shop.

The Men’s Club Championship is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 16th and 17th and the Ladies Club Championship is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 23rd and 24th. Anyone interested in playing in either of these tournaments should contact the Pro Shop for more information and/or to sign up to play.

Now would be a good time to start thinking about your design for the 8th annual Labor Day Yacht Race. The Yacht race will take place at the pool on Monday, September 1st at 1:00 pm (high tide). All entries must be there by 12:00 noon for judging and inspection. All yachts must resemble a boat and must be made from cardboard and duct tape ONLY. A complete list of rules is available at the entry gate of the pool. For those who have not participated in this event before, please remember to be on time as the race is over very quickly. Even if you do not participate in the actual race, please come out and cheer on the participants. Also remember that Labor Day is the last day the pool is open for the season so plan on being here for all the fun and to say goodbye to all your pool friends.

Twin Hills currently has three memberships on the list for sale. Shares of stock have been selling for $9,500.00. If you know of anyone interested in membership, please have them contact Paul Hughes.

The Board of Directors would like to welcome all the new members who have recently joined. We hope to see you in and around the club enjoying the facilities. And to our existing members let’s not forget that a big part of this club is its friendly atmosphere, so if you see members you do not recognize, please take a moment to say hello and welcome them.

Dinner on the North Porch is available on Friday evenings from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm for the Seafood Buffet. Family Style Fried Chicken night is Saturday evening, call the clubhouse for the location. Dinner will also be available in the Grille, à la carte, Tuesday through Sunday until 8:30 pm. Please remember, a reservation is always appreciated for either the North Porch or Grille and will help us to serve you better.
